UFRJ Student Wins Award for Neutrino Research Poster

Doctoral student Marcelo Ismério Oliveira won third place for the best poster at the International Workshop on Nucleon Decay and Neutrino Detectors (NNN24). His research, titled "Impact of the Earth's Density Profile on Atmospheric Neutrino Oscillations", was supervised by Professor João Torres de Mello Neto. The conference, held last week in Rio de Janeiro, discussed important topics in neutrino physics, including how neutrinos change as they travel and how they interact with matter. Marcelo's work looks at how the Earth's structure affects neutrino behavior. By adding new data about the Earth's density, his research could help scientists better understand neutrino movement and potentially map the Earth's interior.
